This is exactly how I feel too, and we're nearly the same age too.
I guess this is a phase everyone have to go through.
Parents fear that you may make bad choices in this critical moment of life, and you (or we) just want to be left alone and do our things, like the many other teens and young adults who are paid for what they like to do and are successful. But we need to "follow a path", or whatever that means.
A lot of artists started sharing their stuff and participating in events and competitions at 17/18. A lot of them are now working for some big game company or even having published books/comics in their 20's.
Life's unfair. I know I'm just going to become a useless NEET for example. I wanna drop out these stupid english classes. I know english already, I don't need to know what King Whatever did in 1703. But "it's very useful for searching for a job".
They think that just because their path worked for them, it will work for us, but not everyone's the same. Just because what they did worked for them doesn't mean it will work for us too.
I can't just "study" for example. Maybe I'm too dumb?
I'd love to see them doing the same thing as you, drawing and creating and learning a whole new language (coding). Drawing require work too. Don't give up. Like i wrote earlier, a lot of artists started young, if not *all* of them. If you need to take a pause, then rest. You can draw for yourself too, uploading things everytime can be pretty stressful. But don't beat yourself up for that.
Just know you're not alone. I don't know your parents, but if it's possible, maybe try to talk to them, to pick the right moment to adress your worries?
So yeah. I don't have much advice to tell you because we're pretty much in the same situation after all lol
But again, that's just life...
Yeah, they lived a very different era, but the world is changing. Maybe that's why they are afraid of waste all their money just because i have a dream i guess.
Also thanks. Its good tho know that i have at least the talent to make people see me
